THE EXPERTISE INVOLVED IN HIGH QUALITY,
LUXURY PRINT PROCESSES
We commit to only the highest quality when it comes to printmaking. As an artist, designer, and printmaker, we operate at the point these skillsets intersect, bringing the intuitive artistry to meet studied and careful design in our expert print processes. But print requires a lot more than artistic talent and design nous. Read on to understand the process behind a luxury print.
WHAT DEFINES A HIGH-QUALITY PRINT?
Anyone interested in art and design can usually identify a high-quality print. It just speaks of high quality. But that doesn’t mean there aren’t decisive factors that make a print high-quality.
High-quality prints always use the best paper for the job - not the thinnest, cheapest available. The colour finish looks perfect - not too matte or too shiny, no unwanted variations in colour. They may feature expert finishes too, such as embossing and foiling. Of course, they will also be judging the overall composition, be that just typography, just imagery, or a combination of the two.

WHY ARE SOME PRINT PROCESSES
MORE HIGH-END THAN OTHERS?
Nowadays, our clients don’t visit us for basic printing. Everyone can access a good quality printer, if they need to create publications to disseminate.
Whilst some designers focus on their artistry and have less focus on the print processes, we believe that the print finish is integral to the luxury finish of the product.
Because of our printing expertise, we can confidently add specialist print techniques - be that foil printing for a luminous, eye-catching finish, embossing for tactility, or letterpress for rich, sculptural impressions. We believe that specialist print techniques add character and depth to every item - whether it’s luxury event stationery, bespoke wedding invitations, or a beautifully branded brochure.
Each project is an opportunity to tell a story with clarity, intention and emotional resonance - no matter the medium.
EXAMPLES OF LUXURY PRINT PROCESSES
Letterpress and embossing are refined examples of luxury print processes, as is foil printing. They require artisanal touches, a fine eye and years of experience, as variations in temperature and pressure can result in completely different print finishes.
The finish on this bespoke stationery commission, designed for an incredible event at Apollo’s Muse in private Mayfair members’ club Bacchanalia, London, added the decadence of foil printing to a unique hand-drawn design, inspired by both Ancient Greece and Modern art. The jewel green paper contrasted the rich gilt work perfectly to fit the incredible opulence of this event brief. See more about Apollo’s Muse here.
Each piece is finished and checked by hand, ensuring that every detail meets the highest standards of print design excellence.
This demands artisanal skill, not simply pressing a button on a machine. That’s why ‘printmaker’ is such an important part of the brief at Studio Anika when we take on commissions or create Collection pieces for our clientele - artistry, design and printmaking processes go hand-in-hand to create the most beautiful, high-end, luxurious print pieces.
